There are seven different species of Pygmy seahorses in the world. Pygmy seahorse are 2m in size being one of the smallest types. Pygmy seahorses live in the Indo-west pacific ocean. Their scientific name is Hippocampus bargibanti.

Pygmy seahorses are good at camouflage. They live in sea fans which come withs purple and orange. Pygmy seahorses can change colour to either purple so they can  camouflage and hide from predators.

The baby Pygmy  seahorses are a bit different than the mother father and Pygmy seahorses because baby Pygmy seahorses start brown but when they land on a purple sea fan they will turn purple but if they land on an orange sea fan they will turn orange. The mother and father do Pygmy seahorses do a dance called a courtship to get the baby from the father's brood  pouch.

Pygmy seahorses eat small crustaceans and Pygmy seahorses have tabercies (bumps). They predators are big fish and sharks.

Did you know that the coral reefs are being destroyed because of fishing people and acidification? Pygmy sea homes are sea fans. The temperature is going down and sea life is dying.
